Moving through the largest estuarine delta in the world is quite a thrilling experience. The flora and fauna of the region are the major attractions here. The mangrove forest presents a unique ecosystem. I just returned from 2 nightsand 3 days in the Sunderband National Park on a boat along the Hougely River. I did not see a Bengal tiger but it was a great trip. The accommodation was similar to second class A/C on the train. Each compartment had bunks, 2 up and 2 down. The boat had an A/C and a non A/C section. At this time of year the weather is cool. The crew cooked us three meals and in between we had snacks and tea. The tour was organized through the WEst Bengal Tourist office. We toured a crocodile project where crocodiles are being reintroduced into the wilds. From three watch towers we looked for Bengal Tigers. But also amazing was the river life and luck ws with us as beer was available!!
