Seven Day Road Trip—Anuradhapura Tantirimali and Yapahuwa  and back to Kandy (Day Six and Seven)

We started early to visit Tantirimali a site north of Anaradhapura on the Jaffna road.  This is a vast site with only a few scattered ruins, but the surroundings are tranquil.  The afternoon was spent visting the sites  of Anaradhapura and String Hoppers for dinner at the takeaway place (with seating) only a five minute walk from the Tourist Guest House on the main road.  I find that 600 rupees for rice and c urry vegetables a bit expensive when a buffet breakfast with a myriad of exquisite offerings and great desserts at the expensive Galle Face Hotel in Colombo is only 890 ruppees.

Our last day was fraught with car trouble.  Our leaving time at 9:00am became 10:30am as a result of a dead car battery.  A second incident at the incredulous Yapahuwa resulted in another 2 hour delay so it was not until 6pm that we were back at Angela’s place outside of Kandy.
