Portugal

This itinerary is a two month trip from fall 2004 which started and ended in Madrid,Spain. The focus of the trip was Portugal and Morocco.

In Europe I usually stay in hostels. In Portugal I recomend the IHA Hostels. For a dorm room they are about 10 to 12 Euros per night in off season which includes a full breakfast. They also have private rooms. It is necessary to book ahead during the summer and also during weekends in the off season for hostels is some of the cities. I stayed in hostels in Potugal unless noted otherwise.

The hostels in Portugal (Pousada Juventude) are HI hostels. A member card is necessary or you can stay by paying a premium over the member rate. I think these are some of the best deals in Europe. The hostels have a range of facilities including kitchens, bar, restaurants and a common areas with games and a television. Here is my itinerary for Portugal and Morocco.
