Out in the middle of nowhere stuck in the heat, what would a good Roman do?  Dig palatial villas underground to get out of the heat, then have the surface level a one-story affair.  You can then decorate the rooms with mosaics and fountains (preserved wonderfully below ground).  Dining rooms with pillars and fountains.  In total there about five other tourists on the site which is located about 7 kilometers from the town of Jendouba.  Only a small portion of the site has been dug out and there was no sign of any archeological work-taking place.  A wide roman road just disappears after 20 meters under 10 feet of sand.  Clearly, a town of many main roads—but that is all that has been unearthed. (the roads are wider and in better condition than the modern tarmac high that vehicles play highway chicken)
